Black, white or champagne: the colour that completed our interior
It's bizarre how much time we spend choosing a sofa, a floor color, or the right wall color. But when it comes to electrical fixtures, it's suddenly:
“Just make it standard.”
We did that too. Until we started seeing the finishes in our house as a whole. And suddenly those white plastic switches seemed out of place. They didn't fit. They didn't add anything. They even brought everything else down.
The interior was finished. But it didn't feel finished.
Until we chose color. Glass. Thorn.
What started as a detail became a statement
When we discovered through Thornwood that switches were also available in black and champagne-colored glass, things fell into place. In the living room, we chose black glass, which perfectly complements our dark window frames. In the bedroom, champagne—warm, soft, and soothing. And in the kitchen: bright white, because we already had a lot of light and freshness in that area.
Each room had its own unique tone. And every switch fit perfectly into the rhythm of the space.
Why color does matter in switching materials
- White on a dark wall feels like a disturbing element
- Black on black gives peace, depth and consistency
- Champagne color reflects light and adds warmth
- Glass adds luxury without being overpowering
We thought no one would notice. But every visitor asked the same question:
“Where did you get those switches?”
Thorn switches aren't an afterthought. They're an integral part of your interior.
The moment you touch a Thorn touch switch, it feels natural. No click. No twist. No screws in sight. Just a gentle touch. In a color that perfectly matches the rest.
And that is the difference between simply switching – and actually living.
What we learned from choosing color
Pay as much attention to the little things as to the big picture.
Because it's the details that determine whether something fits together. Whether something makes sense.
And in our case: whether something is beautiful to look at and to touch.
